Zomtek is a group consisting of Alex Justice, Mike Lady, and Ben Krow. We make short videos.
Q. How do you guys create such hilarious videos?
A. We use a camcorder
Q. What does ZOMTEK mean?
A. Allegedly the Z stands for something about zombies then the K stands for krisis or Katastrophe or whatever, using the Mortal Kombat method of throwing the letter C out the window. Mike and Alex know what it stands for. Ben takes the pretentious high ground and says that it’s irrelevent because titles don’t matter, roses by other names smelling just as blah blah blah blah.
Q. Isn’t your video entitled Real Proof Skunk-Ape exists just a rip off of (insert name)’s youtube video?
A. No.
Q. Care to expand on that?
A. There have been parodies of the Patterson-Gimlin video since long before youtube came out. So any youtube video is copying off something else. And our video was an on the fly attempt to make fun of Alex’s ghastly appearance. Let’s just say I’ve never seen both Alex and the Skunk-Ape in the same place together.
We’re very careful with all our videos in making sure they aren’t using the same concept as another video or show. Several ideas have been thrown out purely for this reason. For example, a seemingly original concept turns out to be the punchline from an episode of Pete and Pete.
Q. Why do you do this?
A. It is something we collectively enjoy doing. Supposedly some people enjoy watching them. We’re all about enjoyment here.
There’s also the thin veil of the need for acceptance shining over all of us. None are too handsome, or singularly funny, or popular. So we live the ruse of Hollywood by way of central Illinois.
Q. Speaking of which, I heard you guys made a movie?
A. See. It is called The Bible Part the Deuce. Jesus Christ returned and instead of straight up judging the world he becomes a cop. Mayhem ensues and there’s a team-up with Satan, then some zombies, and a surprise appearance by a mechanical version of one of science’s most controversial contributors. Will you ever see it? Maybe.
Q. Isn’t that a little sacrilegious?
A. Kinda? No? Jesus is the hero of the story and there are a couple genuine Bible stories told in modern form, such as casting out the moneylenders from the church, as well as the new one where Jesus forgives Satan (!). But then he also shoots people and loves classic rock, so it’s a bit of a toss-up… (Let’s pray on it!) But it is also inspired by Alex looking somewhat like Jesus. So Jesus looks like Bigfoot? And that is what has kept man awake at night for centuries.
Q. What makes you think you can use my copyrighted material in your videos?
A. Why don’t you shoot us a line at contact@zomtek.com and we’ll get it right the hell out of there.
Q. How can I help?
A. If you truly enjoy what you’re seeing, there are a few ways. Forwarding anything onto another helps. Also letting us know what you think is a tremendous help. Is bomb squad a dud? Garage of the damned is pretty damn great? Any reaction will be gone over with laser-like intensity. We only make pure gold… to us. If no one else cares what’s the point?
Oh and you could also give us some money. That would be great too.
